Front                           Rear (facing the lake)

This 3 bedroom house was designed for a small lake lot on Lake Ray Hubbard near Dallas. The program called for a low maintenance, cost-effective cottage style house with the master bedroom on the ground floor. The house is to be used as a weekend getaway but functional enough to be a retirement home.

In the rear of the house (facing the lake), the larger gable wing (yellow) is the family room. The smaller bricked gable end is the master suite. The secondary bedrooms are tucked in the roof with windowed dormers for views of the lake.

To keep down construction cost the living space is limited to ~2000 sqft. But this house will seem larger than it is due to cathedral ceilings at the entry, the family room and the master bedroom. The walled patio also extends the living space to the outside for a more spacious feel.
